About Artist

EGUCHI Ayane was born in 1985 in Hokkaido, Japan, and received her MFA in Oil Painting from Kanazawa College of Art in 2011. In her signature pastel palette, she paints stormy seas, marshes and mountains, using recurring fungi, coral and marine life to explore the duality of beauty and danger, allure and poison, life and death. At first glance her paintings are candy-colored wonderlands, yet unsettling stories lie beneath their sweetness. Scraping away and building up layers of wet oil paint, she creates richly textured surfaces. Her recurring teddy bear, “KUMA,” is cute on the outside yet unknowable within, much like her vision of a world beyond binary opposites.

She has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Taipei and Singapore, presented work at Art Basel Hong Kong, and exhibited internationally in Taiwan, Singapore, China, Macau, the Philippines, Indonesia, the United States and Switzerland.

關於藝術家

江口綾音，1985 年生於日本北海道，2011 年取得金澤美術工藝大學研究所油畫碩士。她以粉彩色調描繪暴風雨的海、沼澤與山脈，透過反覆出現的菌類、珊瑚與海洋生物，思索美麗與危機、誘惑與毒、生與死的兩面性。她的畫乍看是一座糖果色的夢幻仙境，甜美之下卻藏著令人不安的情節。她在未乾的油彩上層層刮除與堆疊，形成獨特的多層次肌理。畫中的泰迪熊「KUMA」外表可愛、內在未知，正如她眼中非二元對立的世界。

她曾於東京、台北、新加坡舉辦個展，作品參與香港巴塞爾藝術展（Art Basel Hong Kong），並於台灣、新加坡、中國、澳門、菲律賓、印尼、美國、瑞士等地展出。
